Thursday Night Football kicks off tonight at 8:15 p.m. ET as the Pittsburgh Steelers host the New England Patriots at Acrisure Stadium. The Steelers are 6-point favorites, according to our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook, and the total is set at 30 points.
The biggest thing I’m watching for tonight is whether either team can reach double-digit points.
With the Patriots losing to the Chargers 6-0 on Sunday, NFL teams this season when allowing 10 points or fewer…— Jason Starrett (@starrettjason) December 3, 2023
Rest of NFL: 50-0
Ben Solak of The Ringer summed up New England’s woes shown in the tweet above. “You want to know the absolute worst bit? Those three losses … are the Patriots’ past three games: 10-6 to the Colts in London, 10-7 to the Tommy DeVito Giants last week, and this 6-0 travesty at home against the Chargers. The Patriots defense has given up 26 points over the past three games. They’re third by success rate and second by EPA per drive in that stretch. And for their effort, nothing: 0-3.”
This is objectively funny, and also wild that Bill Belichick remains a defensive mastermind but struggles mightily to help his offense. The Patriots will try to hold their opponent to 10 or fewer points for a fourth-straight game tonight against the Steelers and Mitchell Trubisky. (Kenny Pickett received surgery for a high ankle sprain -- couldn’t be my quarterback.)
Here are our staff’s picks for tonight’s game.
