Per multiple reports Baltimore Ravens Defensive Passing Game Coordinator & Secondary Coach, Chris Hewitt is the first confirmed interview for the Jacksonville Jaguars' open defensive coordinator role.

Hewitt is a former New Orleans Saints player (1997-1999) and Ravens DB Coach from 2015 to present. This season his secondary currently allows the sixth fewest passing yards per game. His secondaries over the years: 2015 (1st), 2016 (9th), 2017 (10th), 2018 (5th), 2019 (6th), 2020 (6th), 2021 (32nd), and 2022 (23rd).

Additionally, New York Jets Safeties Coach Marquand Manuel also reportedly has a scheduled interview for the Jaguars' open defensive coordinator role.

Manuel is a former NFL safety (2002-2009) with prior defensive coordinator experience. A former defensive coordinator with the Atlanta Falcons (2017–2018), Manuel also has coached for the Seattle Seahawks (2014; Assistant secondary coach), Philadelphia Eagles (2020, Secondary coach), and is the Safeties coach with the New York Jets (2021–present). Manuel was the secondary coach in Philadelphia during Doug Pederson's final season with the team.

As a DC in Atlanta, Manuel led the NFL's 11th-ranked defense (321.1 ypg). As a secondary coach in Philadelphia, his unit allowed the 14th fewest passing yards per game (237.4 ypg). As a side note: Manuel previously interviewed for the Jaguars defensive coordinator position in 2016, a role Todd Wash eventually was hired for.
