Jaguars Poll: Which Buccaneers player would you cherrypick?

The Jacksonville Jaguars face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Preseason Week 2 on Saturday. Which Bucs player would you ‘steal’?

Welcome to the Thursday edition of our “Jaguars Poll” series.

Today, we’re asking: which Tampa Bay Buccaneers player would you cherrypick and add to the Jacksonville Jaguars?

The Bucs and Jags face off at EverBank Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. EST in Preseason Week 2.

Here are your options:

WR Mike Evans

The former Texas A&M Aggie is a living legend. Evans has reached 1,000 yards in his first 10 seasons in the NFL, something no other player has done. The only receiver with more consecutive 1,000-yard seasons at any point in his career is Jerry Rice (14).

Jacksonville’s receiver room is set: Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas Jr. are the starters, Parker Washington is the top backup, and Devin Duvernay is the ‘gadget’ player. Plus, tight end Evan Engram is a strong pass-catching option. But it’s hard not to daydream about Evans’ six-foot-five frame hauling in touchdowns from Trevor Lawrence.

OT Tristan Wirfs

Much of Jaguars Twitter was all in on Wirfs when he entered the 2020 NFL Draft out of Iowa. Jacksonville ultimately selected C.J. Henderson ninth overall and K’Lavon Chaisson 20th overall, and Wirfs landed with Tampa Bay at 13th overall. Four years later, Henderson and Chaisson are no longer with the Jaguars, while Wirfs has been selected to three straight Pro Bowls and became the highest-paid offensive lineman in league history earlier this month.

Jacksonville has solid depth at offensive tackle for 2024, but Cam Robinson and Walker Little are entering the final year of their respective contracts. Wirfs and Anton Harrison would be an incredible tackle duo to pair with Lawrence in the long run.

LB Lavonte David

David has played in the league for a dozen seasons but only has one Pro Bowl appearance, a true shame. This guy is the pinnacle of middle linebacker play. Foye Oluokun said as much earlier in training camp when talking about his transition from MIKE to WILL.

“I watched a lot of Lavonte David’s film when I was early in my career. That’s a guy who played very efficiently at a very high level for a very long time. Maybe doesn’t get the recognition that he always deserves, but I think he’s the top-line, one of the top guys to look up to and follow, just the way that he plays.”

The Jaguars don’t *need* reinforcements at linebacker right now — Oluokun is joined by promising youngsters Devin Lloyd, Chad Muma and Ventrell Miller in that room — but adding a respected veteran presence like David would dramatically raise the floor of Ryan Nielsen’s defense.

S Antoine Winfield Jr.

The son of Antoine Winfield Sr., one of the hardest-hitting cornerbacks of the century, Winfield Jr. has made a name for himself as one of the most versatile safeties in today’s game. He leads all players at his position in sacks and overall PFF grade since entering the league in 2020.

Jacksonville will start Andre Cisco and Antonio Johnson at safety this season, but the former is entering the final year of his contract and the latter is relatively inexperienced. The addition of Winfield Jr. to this unit could make a huge difference.
