The Jacksonville Jaguars running game has struggled since Maurice Jones-Drew has been out of the lineup dealing with a foot injury. Jones-Drew hurt his foot on his first offensive play against the Oakland Raiders, played one more down, and then hasn't been back on the field since.
With the time off and Jones-Drew constantly being "a few weeks away" there has been some growing concern that Jones-Drew could be sidelined for the remainder of the 2012 NFL season, but he says that's not the case.
"No it’s definitely not going to be the year but with a foot injury you don’t want to mess around with it and come back at 70 or 80 percent," Jones-Drew told Petros and Money on Fox Sports Radio. "It’s just one of those things that’s going to take a little bit of time but it’s doing much better. Hopefully I will be back in a couple of weeks."
As mentioned, back up running back Rashad Jennings hasn't been able to fill the void as the team has struggled rushing the football, but the Jaguars have also been without fullback Greg Jones for the past few weeks. Jones, just like Jones-Drew, is an important cog in the Jaguars running game.
