The Jaguars were blown out against the Seahawks, but it wasn't because of lack of effort. Johnathan Cyprien's strip sack of Russell Wilson is a good example.

The Jacksonville Jaguars look awful once again against the Seattle Seahawks in defeat, but one thing that I noticed from the Jaguars, especially on the defense, was that they didn't give up even when the game was well in hand. Head coach Gus Bradley has preached competition and competitiveness throughout, leading up to the season, and the early returns are there.

Especially from the young players.

For instance, second-round pick Johnathan Cyprien had a sack and fumble, his second forced fumble in as many games. What was impressive about the play however wasn't that he came off the edge and sacked the quarterback, it wasn't that easy. Cyprien had to take the long road around, because of how the play unfolded. It wasn't a come free of the edge sack, it was a hustle play.

As you can see by the play diagram, it's a basic safety blitz, with the Jaguars playing predominantly man coverage and a single deep safety. Cyprien walks up into the box and rushes off the snap of the ball.

Initially Marshawn Lynch is coming up to block Cyprien, but Cyprien doesn't let Lynch get his hands on him and peels wide while Jason Babin beats Pat McQuistan off the snap. With Babin coming off the edge, it forces Russell Wilson to step up in the pocket.

Wilson steps up in the pocket and then bails to his left because no one is open and he's trying to stress the defense to play him and free up a receiver because everyone is covered up by the Jaguars secondary. As you can see below however, Cyprien has come around Lynch and the rest of the trash in the pocket, turns the corner, and sets his sights on Wilson.

With Wilson's eyes down the field, as they should be, he isn't aware that Lynch missed his blitz pickup on Cyprien. Even so, he's not going to expect a defender coming from the backside, looping around that far. He knows that Brandon Deaderick is there, but he has the angle on him and he's just becoming disengaged from the tackle. That leads to Cyprien's ability to come in and chop the ball out of Wilson's hand for the turnover.

And here is the play in sequence:

As you can see, it's not just because Cyprien screamed off the edge right to the quarterback, but it was because he beat his blocker, worked his way through the rest, and hustled to continue getting to the quarterback.

The Jaguars were blown out once again, this time on the road against the Seahawks. How would you grade their performance?

The Jacksonville Jaguars fell to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, even giving up points to their backups on the offensive side of the ball.

My grade: D+

The only reason I'm not giving the Jaguars an outright 'F' for their grade is for two reasons. The first reason is I respect how the defense is playing despite getting zero relief from the offensive side of the ball. Nearly halfway through the game the offense had totaled negative yardage on the day, but the defense was still holding their own against the Seahawks offense.

The other positive I saw was that the team still played their butts off in the second half and didn't appear to let up, despite getting blown out. While some of it was against backups and not the full strength Seahawks squad, they still put up a fight rather than laying down.

The Jaguars were outmatched once again as they fell to 0-3 on the season and Gus Bradley knows there needs to be some changes made.

The Jacksonville Jaguars ran into a buzzsaw named the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday and looked completely outmatched much of the game. Despite the beat down, there were some positives and Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley knows the team is still trying to find themselves and figure out what they do well.

"We continually try to find out who we are and what we do well, and I think in the second half we have some things that we can build on." -Gus Bradley

"Coaches have to evaluate, players have to evaluate and we really have to find out what we're doing well," Bradley said in his post game press conference. "I know for you looking from the outside it might not look like there's much, but I know there's a lot that we can build on."

A lot of things went wrong for the Jaguars against the Seahawks and Bradley acknowledged that, even laying some of the blame on his own coaching staff because players don't seem to be getting the message down just yet.

"I think all sides can take blame in this," Bradley said. "As coaches I think we can find better ways to coach the techniques and principals so our players have a clear understanding. I don't know that they have a clear understanding yet. Some of the things they got yards on, even the quarterback keeper by Tavaris Jackson, a fall back principal that we use in that formation we didn't execute. So I think that's where the accountability has to be.

"This is your job, this is what you're supposed to do, now you've got to do it. And what you're asking is 'What happens if he doesn't, what are you going to do?' We've just got to do a better job of coaching them," Bradley continued. "If we have to shrink our package and go through the principals again and start small, than that's what we have to do."

The Jaguars can't do much, as far as replacing the players on the roster, but they can scale things back and try to make it simpler for the players they do have.

The Jaguars got blitzed by the Seahawks on the road, and here's the good, the bad and the WTF.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were throttle by the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, to the surprise of no one. At least, it shouldn't have been a big surprise to anyone who's paid attention to the Jaguars heading up to the game. While it was bad for the most part, there were some things to look at in a positive fashion.

Jaguars dominated

The Jaguars scored more on the Seahawks than the 49ers could in Week 2. That is all.

The Good

Overall the Jaguars defense once again played well, despite the box score. The interior defensive line had a good jump off the snap and was able to disrupt Russell Wilson early. The Jaguars bottled up the Seahawks running game on quite a few plays and most of the big runs given up were due to missed tackles. Rookie safety Jonathan Cyprien, while he missed some tackles, once again flash big play potential with a strip sack and laid some more big shots on receivers.

The Bad

The Jaguars offense continues to struggle because of two parts. The first part is the fact that neither quarterback on the roster is any good. Until the game was well out of hand and the Seahawks began subbing out some first team players, Chad Henne was woefully unproductive. But, as Henne is wont to do, he piled on the garbage time yardage by locking on to Cecil Shorts III and throwing up 50/50 balls. He also continued his knack to check down and miss some receivers down the field, which I'll detail later in the week with some coaches film when it's available.

But then again, the second part has a lot to do with the first part, which leads me to...

The WTF

The offensive line was just abysmal, at least on the interior of the line. Eugene Monroe and Luke Joeckel actually appeared to hold their own against the plethora of Seahawks edge rushers, but the interior of the offensive line was collapsed for much of the game. The big culprits in the the interior were once again Will Rackley and veteran Brad Meester.

Rackley in particular was downright awful on several occasions. At one point while trying to pull on a run to the right, Rackley stumbled and fell down immediately, then when he tried to get up was bowled over again by another Jaguars player. I would venture to guess that it won't be long before Rackley is benched.

The Jaguars scored more on the Seahawks than the 49ers could in Week 2. That is all.

Take it easy, Broncos fans, I just didn't feel like putting "arguably" in the headline. The Jacksonville Jaguars played exactly like everyone expected them to when they went against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3, struggling to move the ball for the majority of the game and falling, 45-17.

Leading the way for the Jaguars offense was quarterback Chad Henne, who dug an early hole for the Jaguars by a three-and-out on each of the team's first four offensive possessions. The Jaguars fell behind 31-0 as the defense struggled to stop the run of the Seahawks and had consistent pressure put on them from the offense's struggles.

The Jaguars managed to rally late in the game, scoring 17 garbage time points that really shouldn't inspire too much hope in the offense, but were at least a positive sign of functionality against a very solid Seattle unit.

As has been said in the first two weeks and will continue to be said, the rebuild of the franchise is going to be a process. Nothing is going to come easy and we're going to see a lot more games like this before it gets better.

First half summary: The Jaguars struggled to move the ball against the best defense in the NFL. People got mad. I don't know why.

The Jacksonville Jaguars didn't look like the Super Bowl contender we all expected to see in the first 30 minutes at CenturyLink Stadium in Seattle, as they fell behind the Seahawks early, 24-0.

Despite high expectations for Chad Henne, the Jaguars were unable to find the end-zone even with the return of the always dangerous Maurice Jones-Drew from injury. Lol, come on what did we actually expect?

I suppose I was hopeful that the Jaguars would look halfway functional at times on offense, but negative-nine yards in the first quarter pretty much eliminated that hope. What I'm hoping for now is more signs of growth from young players like Johnathan Cyprien who had the Jaguars highlight of the game when he recorded a sack/forced fumble late in the second quarter.

It's going to be a process, everyone. Take a deep breath and look for signs of growth.
